Books & Authors: Is "alright" all right?

Here in Canada, I believe the two are interchangeable, and both present in the dictionary. I prefer to use "all right" in my fiction because it appears more elegant to me (this has subsequently been transferred over to my everyday use of the word(s)), but it's really a matter of personal preference here.
